Violence Outreach Program

A Comprehensive Approach to Healing

At Phoenix, our Violence Outreach Program adopts a nuanced strategy to combat domestic and date-related violence, seeking to both enlighten the public and empower victims through direct assistance. The challenges of reducing violent attacks are daunting, as victims often find themselves ensnared in complex webs of poverty, limited education, health issues, substance abuse, shame, and fear, hindering their ability to break free from abusive relationships.

Meth Prevention Program

As a campaign for the Department of Adult, Aging, and Behavior Studies in partnership with the University of Arkansas at Little Rock’s MidSOUTH, Me Over Meth offers drug education, prevention resources, and support for communities across Arkansas. Undoing methamphetamine substance use in Arkansas will take a community effort, and it is time for Arkansans to step up.

Since being awarded the Meth Prevention grant Phoenix has made efforts to encourage and empower community youth and adults through information dissemination during various school and community-sponsored events such as Parent/Teacher Conference, Home sporting events, Family Nights, Festivals, and Career Fairs. Staff has collaborated with local agencies to inform the community about state and national prevention and youth development resources.

Through this grant, staff has created a regional meth prevention taskforce that meets quarterly to address the meth issues facing the region. The staff has provided various training and conferences to educate community stakeholders such as law enforcement agencies, substance abuse prevention professionals, government officials, and others.
